To earn the MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, students complete a selection of courses across disciplines such as art history, religious studies, history, philosophy, literature, and related fields available through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. While specializing in one primary area, students also examine diverse facets of medieval life, intellectual traditions, and cultural expressions. This program enables students to pursue graduate-level studies in their chosen medieval or renaissance subjects for one academic year. It serves both aspiring PhD candidates and those seeking a final master's degree. The curriculum focuses on three key components: customized language instruction based on individual academic goals, hands-on work with historical manuscripts and early printed materials, and the completion of an original thesis research project.
