The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures provides an independent MA program featuring cross-disciplinary exploration of East Asia's literature, culture, history, and languages (covering China, Japan, Korea, and Tibet), with special focus on analytical methods and comparative research. Students can access diverse East Asian studies courses across disciplines including political science, sociology, anthropology, art, law, history, and business, alongside collaborative programs with Religion and History departments. Strong connections with East Asian organizations in New York and internationally foster a vibrant cultural atmosphere.
Applicant must have the equivalent of the U.S. baccalaureate degree with a superior examination record and can understand rapid idiomatic English and can speak, write and read English with a high degree of facility are eligible for admission.
Applicant must have TOEFL score of 600 on paper-and-pencil test, 100 on the internet-based test and IELTS score of 7.5
