The Master of Arts in Communication and Education program employs social science research to examine how information technologies and digital media impact culture and learning, covering domains like literacy, equity, adolescent development, and educator training. This interdisciplinary program utilizes diverse methodologies—both qualitative and quantitative—to investigate the relationship between communication processes and educational outcomes, with special focus on how evolving media transforms social institutions. The curriculum challenges students to:Analyze the historical and sociocultural influences of various communication mediaApply appropriate research techniques to study how media consumption affects educational behaviorsExamine both technological tools and human interactions, considering how different communication formats influence conveyed meanings—especially through today's abundant digital channels.
In order to be eligible for admission, international applicants must hold, or be in the process of obtaining, the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree.
