The History Department provides an extensive PhD program covering nearly all regions and eras of global history. Qualification Requirements

Our program is designed for students who seek the Ph.D. Although students entering without a Master's degree earn an M.A. in History in the course of their study here, we do not admit full-time students who wish only to earn a Master's degree.
In addition to the requirements listed below, all students must submit one transcript showing courses and grades per school attended, a statement of academic purpose, a writing sample (a course paper, term paper, etc.), and three letters of recommendation from academic sources.

The Graduate School requires the following minimum scores-
600 on the TOEFL paper-and-pencil test
100 on the TOEFL internet-based test
7.5 on IELTS
