The Ancient Studies program embraces a multidisciplinary approach. Those drawn to exploring the ancient Mediterranean or Near East will typically enroll in diverse courses spanning language, literature, mythology, archaeology, history, religious studies, art history, philosophy, comparative literature, and other disciplines aligned with their academic pursuits. While specializing in a particular region or era, students will also cultivate an understanding of broader cultural evolution within the area. The program actively promotes international study opportunities in Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Middle East, or at European universities with renowned ancient studies departments. Additionally, students have access to valuable internship experiences at New York City institutions like the Brooklyn Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
