Our faculty conducts theoretical, applied, and policy research at national and international levels, examining how social change impacts individuals, communities, and nations worldwide. The program focuses on four interconnected strengths: Environment and Natural Resources, Food, Agriculture, and Development, Crime, Law and Deviance, plus Social Inequality, Social Justice, and Governance. Many faculty members engage in research, outreach, and teaching across multiple areas—a distinctive feature of our program that equips graduates to make adaptable yet rigorous contributions as professional sociologists.
