The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a Projection Design and Technology Concentration includes courses like Drawing for Theatre, Computer Assisted Drafting for Theatre, two levels of projection design classes, Projection Design, Design Portfolio and Professional Preparation. Students must also study additional design disciplines (such as sound, lighting, costume, or set design) to gain a deeper appreciation for the collaborative process of stage production. Practical experience is gained through practicum courses, where students apply their design skills to departmental productions or live event design teams.
Beyond the general CSU Theatre Program Learning Outcomes, this concentration focuses on these specialized objectives:
PROJECTION DESIGN and TECHNOLOGY FOR THEATRE, FILM, and INDUSTRY: Master the methods projection designers employ to conceptualize and convey ideas, incorporating research, drafting, digital/virtual pre-visualization, content development, video programming, and cutting-edge technologies while understanding the designer's collaborative role within creative teams.
DESIGN ARTISTRY: Cultivate the Projection Designer's dual role as both artist and technician by honing organizational, creative, and technical abilities to bring productions from initial concept to final execution, while assembling a professional portfolio of design and technical work.
