The upper-level courses focus on workshop formats where students review and provide feedback on each other's writing. All creative writing instruction emphasizes the mastery of literary techniques. Those concentrating in Creative Writing also complete diverse English and literature courses that cultivate their understanding of literary heritage and forms, preparing them for writing careers. The English department's internship opportunities extend to Creative Writing students, potentially opening doors to professional positions.
