The next wave of innovators in mathematics and statistics is emerging to tackle sophisticated global technological issues. Colorado School of Mines' Applied Mathematics and Statistics program leads pioneering research to explore and resolve these critical problems. Demand for skilled mathematicians and statisticians continues to surge (projected to grow 24% between 2011-2024), and Mines equips students for fulfilling careers across diverse sectors while providing post-graduation career support.
Mines' Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) develops future mathematical and statistical leaders for a world shaped by intricate technological advancements. Our department spearheads research in analytical methodologies that solve tomorrow's challenges. AMS provides two advanced degrees: a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The master's program readies graduates for industry, government roles, or doctoral studies, while the adaptable PhD program prepares scholars for careers in academia, industry, or public service. The PhD curriculum accommodates both bachelor's degree holders and those with master's qualifications.
