The Materials Science graduate program at Mines will prepare you for success. In this distinctive, cross-disciplinary program, you'll study with leading scientists and engineers to create, produce, analyze, and test materials at every scale - from atomic to macroscopic. You'll apply your knowledge of how structure, processing, and properties interrelate to drive innovation across multiple fields. A Mines degree opens boundless career possibilities.
Our interdisciplinary Materials Science graduate program educates students holding at least a BS in engineering or science about this varied discipline. This diversity encompasses four fundamental pillars: material properties (including analysis and simulation), material structures, production and processing techniques, and material performance - all applied to different material categories (metals, ceramics, polymers, electronic materials, and biomaterials). The program oversees both MS (thesis and non-thesis options) and PhD degrees in Materials Science.
