The Geophysical Engineering Bachelor of Science program at Colorado School of Mines equips undergraduates to address worldwide demands for energy, water resources, food security, mineral extraction, and natural disaster prevention. Through geophysical studies, we achieve this by investigating and revealing Earth's dynamic systems, including oceanic, atmospheric, and planetary phenomena.
By integrating mathematics, physics, earth sciences, chemistry, water systems, and computational methods, students develop skills to examine Earth's intricate subsurface, deducing internal characteristics and mechanisms from surface data, well measurements, and aerial/satellite observations. Mines alumni are trained to contribute to securing essential resources for expanding communities, reducing risks from seismic events, volcanic eruptions, and other geological dangers, as well as extraterrestrial exploration. Offering six specialized undergraduate concentrations, learners can customize their educational journey.
