Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering receive comprehensive training in essential subjects like fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, and chemical process dynamics and control. This broad chemical engineering curriculum equips graduates to develop and produce diverse products at industrial scales. Our undergraduate chemical engineering students work with materials ranging from pharmaceuticals and paper to petrochemicals and polymers.
The Colorado School of Mines maintains a forward-looking approach, preparing graduates for careers in emerging fields like renewable energy, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. During their studies, Mines students can specialize in process engineering (concentrating on large-scale industrial processes for chemicals and fuels), biological engineering (applying engineering concepts to biological systems for pharmaceutical and bioenergy applications), or honors research (enhancing qualifications for graduate studies or research roles).

International students must meet the same admission requirements and will be included in the same selection process as U.S. citizens and permanent residents as described on the First-Year Students page in the Recommended Curriculum and Application Requirements sections. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission to Mines. Applicants who are admitted typically will exceed Mines admission requirements. If you have attended both non-U.S. and U.S. schools, both your non-U.S. and U.S. courses and grades will be considered

All students who have attended high school outside of the U.S. are also required to submit a credential evaluation to complete their application. A credential evaluation is a comparison of your academic record to standards in the U.S., a verification of validity and a translation of your grades to the U.S.-style system. International Baccalaureate- The most competitive international applicants whose schools offer the IB curriculum usually present three IB exams with grades of 5, 6 or 7.
