The School of Education provides undergraduate and graduate programs designed to train aspiring teachers, counselors, school psychologists, and educational leaders at both K-12 and higher education levels. Hands-on fieldwork forms an essential part of all W&M degree programs, allowing students to gain real-world experience and make a difference in students' lives, families, and communities before completing their studies. W&M's faculty, students, alumni, and partners actively contribute to advancing educational theory, practice, and policy, translating research into practical applications for classrooms and clinical settings.
Those interested in a primary Arts & Sciences major can also choose Elementary Education as a secondary major.
BAEd students may apply only 60 credits from ELEM and EDUC courses toward the 120-credit graduation requirement, with at least 60 credits required from Arts & Sciences.
To qualify for graduation, students must maintain good academic standing, fulfill all general education and proficiency requirements, complete at least 60 credits in Arts and Sciences subjects, meet all School of Education program requirements, and accumulate a minimum of 120 academic credit hours.
