Africana Studies extends beyond racial topics, encompassing the rich history, diverse cultural practices, political systems, and economic landscapes across the African continent. This field explores how African communities have adapted in regions like North America, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia, and Western Europe. Through our curriculum, students cultivate critical interdisciplinary thinking skills and develop cultural sensitivity. The program prepares graduates for lifelong learning and diverse career paths or advanced studies. We provide both major and minor options in Africana Studies, with numerous courses available to students outside the program. The William & Mary community is warmly invited to participate in our regularly hosted special events.
