This Certificate program equips students for entry-level positions as engine performance diagnostic technicians. Graduates will become skilled and knowledgeable in safe operational practices, utilizing hand and power tools, and operating lab and advanced diagnostic equipment such as DVOMs, scan tools, digital storage oscilloscopes, and electronic service information, while also gaining a foundational understanding of the automotive industry. Students will conduct diagnostics and repairs on electrical systems, including batteries, starting and charging components, engine-related services, driveability issues, and vehicle computer network systems and body control modules. They will learn service techniques for alternative fueled vehicles relevant to driveability. Additionally, students will be ready to acquire a State of Nevada Class 1G smog inspector license.
