The Mechanical Engineering Department provides a Master of Science program in Mechanical Engineering. Specialization options include: Thermal-Fluid Mechanics and Energy Systems, Dynamics, Vibrations, and Machine Design, Robotics, Controls, and Mechatronics, Biomechanics, and Manufacturing. While courses are structured around these five focus areas, students can tailor their curriculum to align with personal interests and professional aspirations. The program offers regular engagement with real-world engineering challenges and advancements through Northeast Ohio's industrial and research network. Collaborative research initiatives extend across the College of Engineering, with faculty and students involved in projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, NASA Glenn Research Center, and corporate partners such as Parker-Hannifin, General Electric, and Philips Medical Systems. This graduate program fosters innovation, delivers comprehensive knowledge of mechanical system fundamentals, and develops proficiency in applying contemporary methods for analyzing, controlling, and designing mechanical, mechatronic, robotic, and thermal-fluid systems.
The program welcomes both recent bachelor's degree recipients and professionals returning from industry, with flexible full-time or part-time study options. Additionally, the Department features an accelerated 5-year combined Bachelor's/Master's degree pathway.
If you have successfully completed a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree in the United States, you are considered to be a graduate student at CSU.
