The P-5 Education Program provides undergraduate and graduate-level coursework for those training to educate children from preschool to fifth grade. This curriculum caters to aspiring educators seeking leadership positions in early childhood settings. Its goal is to equip graduates with the skills to deliver age-appropriate instruction for young learners. Participants gain expertise in supporting children and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and ability backgrounds. The program features an enhanced curriculum with over 700 hours of hands-on training - comparable to professional preparation in law and medicine. This thorough training increases graduates' employment prospects. Upon completion, students earn either an undergraduate or graduate degree along with P-5 teaching certification.
P-5 education graduates enjoy numerous career options. Bachelor's degree holders can pursue teaching certification, leading to opportunities in public/private schools, preschools, kindergartens, and childcare centers. Those with master's degrees often secure administrative roles in schools or educational programs. Alternatively, graduates may continue their studies, conducting P-5 education research to tackle key challenges in the field. After three to four years of research, candidates present their thesis for faculty review and publicly defend their findings. Successful candidates receive a PhD or doctoral degree, unlocking global opportunities in higher education and research institutions.
