Chemists explore and create novel compounds and chemical processes that drive innovation in pharmaceuticals, plastics, energy solutions, and diverse materials like coatings, glues, personal care products, and agricultural chemicals. They operate across multiple disciplines, from environmental science where they monitor and mitigate contaminants, to healthcare where they enhance diagnostic methods and therapies, as well as in farming, food production, and numerous industrial sectors. These professionals serve as researchers in analytical and experimental facilities. Career paths for chemistry graduates include roles as: biotech, environmental, pharmaceutical, clinical, and forensic lab technicians; research associates in corporate, governmental, and academic settings; specialists in chemical product sales and support; secondary education chemistry instructors (certification necessary); or they may continue their studies toward advanced medical, pharmaceutical, dental, or veterinary degrees, or pursue graduate-level chemistry and related scientific qualifications.
If you have successfully completed your high school degree (12 years of primary and secondary education), you are considered an undergraduate student at CSU.
