Chemistry programs equip students for careers in this foundational science, whether entering the workforce directly or pursuing advanced studies. Students explore various chemical specialties including analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and biochemistry through both classroom instruction and hands-on lab work.
Each chemistry student receives guidance from a faculty advisor to help them reach their academic objectives. The program also offers chances to collaborate with distinguished professors on research projects spanning marine nutrient studies, protein chemistry, lanthanide extraction, computational modeling, organic synthesis, natural product research, and chemical education.
While all department degrees qualify students for professional programs, the Bachelor of Arts in chemistry requires fewer credits than the B.S. degree, enabling students to broaden their education with elective courses - an advantage valued by professional schools.
