Design education offers insights into the historical, cultural, and social frameworks essential for interpreting, assessing, and producing visual artworks. Engaging with art cultivates analytical skills, visual comprehension, and an appreciation for the nuanced power of non-verbal communication and cultural expression. It also equips learners with diverse media skills applicable to visual arts and graphic design. Graduates pursue advanced studies in Art History, Design MFA, Studio MFA, and Art Therapy, or enter fields like medicine, entrepreneurship, law, and business. An art education can lead to roles such as: Art Historian, Professor, Museum Educator, Visual Resources Librarian, Auction Specialist, Arts Administrator, K-12 Art Teacher, Architect, Preparator, Conservator, Graphic Designer, Fashion Designer, Interior Designer, Art Director, Art Therapist, Illustrator, Curator, Exhibition Designer, Marketing Specialist, Advertising Professional, Design Writer/Consultant, Creative Director, Development Professional, Art Advisor/Dealer, or Photographer.
If you have successfully completed your high school degree (12 years of primary and secondary education), you are considered an undergraduate student at CSU.
