Master of Science students are accepted into specific focus areas and must meet all associated requirements. Those enrolled in the Department's M.S. program can select between a coursework-only track or a thesis track. The M.S. curriculum offers both paths: the coursework option requires at least 30 credit hours, with a minimum of 18 at the 8000 level, while the thesis option mandates 30 credit hours including 12 at the 8000 level plus 6 hours of ECE 8910 (thesis research). Research assistants typically must pursue the thesis track, and students considering Ph.D. studies are strongly advised to select this option. The Master of Engineering in electrical engineering caters to full-time working professionals. Both on-campus and distance-learning courses (including online offerings) count toward degree completion. M.Eng. candidates submit an engineering report instead of a traditional master's thesis.
