Hemispheric and Transnational Studies examines cultural and historical connections across the Americas, investigating how research on Atlantic networks, border regions, and diasporic communities has transformed academic fields like American Studies, Caribbean Studies, and Latin American Studies, with particular focus on imperialism, racial dynamics, and revolutionary movements. A key scholarly objective involves assessing how transnational academic approaches create fresh research directions. Learners investigate how studies of transatlantic connections, borderlands, and migration patterns have redefined U.S. American Studies, Caribbean Studies, and Latin American scholarship. Concentration requirements vary based on the student's home department or program. This interdisciplinary focus is offered to students pursuing degrees in Applied Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, English, History, or Religion. The concentration appears on official transcripts as supplementary specialization alongside either the MA or PhD degree.
