The Applied Social Psychology PhD program prepares students to perform research that extends scientific understanding while tackling critical social challenges such as health behaviors, group conflicts, social identity, and mechanisms of influence and societal transformation. At CGU, our Applied Social Psychology curriculum delivers thorough training in the discipline's theoretical frameworks through interactive seminar courses. The program focuses on intensive study of key domains including persuasion and attitudes, intergroup dynamics and group processes, interpersonal relationships, and the interplay of cognition, emotion, and motivation. Research forms the cornerstone of the doctoral experience, with most projects occurring within faculty laboratories or under the guidance of faculty-led research teams.
