The American Studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of U.S. culture, society, and national identity, examining these themes through historical, literary, and theoretical frameworks. CGU's unique research methodology allows students to investigate the development of American civilization while enhancing their humanities education. This concentration is open to students enrolled in Applied Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, English, History, and Religion programs, appearing on transcripts as a specialized qualification alongside their primary degree. Participants collaborate with faculty mentors to design a cohesive academic path, combining departmental courses with interdisciplinary offerings from CGU and The Claremont Colleges. The curriculum requires at least four courses within the student's major department and two from complementary disciplines.
