The Entertainment and Lifestyle Writing Certificate enables students to focus on developing expertise in reporting and writing for their preferred niche market. After completing foundational reporting and writing courses, students will apply these skills through involvement with campus media outlets like the lifestyle magazine PULSE, The Observer newspaper, or CentralNewsWatch newscast, while also building their personal websites and social media presence. The program teaches students how to effectively pitch and promote stories to professional publications. Graduates will establish themselves as knowledgeable writers in their chosen specialty area. Journalism majors or minors seeking this certificate should consult their academic advisor about required coursework during the term they fulfill the Journalism Basics prerequisite.
