This degree program meets some of the requirements for a middle-level science teaching endorsement (grades 4-9), enabling graduates to teach science in middle schools or junior highs. It can also benefit students pursuing careers in informal science education environments like museums. Completing both the Science: Middle-Level Education BA and the STEM Teaching Program (which serves as an alternative to the Professional Education Program) qualifies graduates to apply for Washington State teaching certification. Certification candidates must earn at least a C in all major and STEM Teaching Program courses, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in either their last 45 quarter credits or their overall CWU/transfer cumulative GPA, and fulfill all state certification requirements. Prospective students should consult with a middle-level science education advisor early to plan their academic pathway.
