The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program equips students with foundational skills for generalist practice and qualifies graduates for professional certification through our accredited curriculum. The program combines theoretical knowledge, hands-on training, research methods, and policy studies with a strong focus on social equity and community empowerment. Practical components include mandatory field placements totaling 400 hours.
Prospective social work students should consult with an academic advisor during their initial studies to create a tailored academic roadmap and clarify program prerequisites and application deadlines. Applicants need a minimum of 50 completed credit hours to be considered. While students may declare social work as their primary major, acceptance into the BSW program isn't automatic. Many participants complement their studies with secondary majors in related disciplines like psychology, family sciences, criminal justice, sociology, or Spanish language. The university doesn't offer a social work minor option.
