The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences provides bachelor's programs, certification courses, and advanced degrees across diverse fields. Students develop analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities—essential competencies for professional success, leadership roles, and active community involvement. Learners refine their verbal and written expression while deepening their knowledge of human behavior and societal systems. Through internships, creative projects, hands-on research, and global cultural initiatives, we enrich academic learning. Our alumni become knowledgeable, empathetic leaders capable of connecting with local and global communities. Consider the sociology major with a youth studies focus if you're passionate about improving young lives. CMU's curriculum teaches you to identify how gender, race, and socioeconomic status shape adolescent growth. You'll acquire techniques to design and assess youth development initiatives, culminating in a service-learning project with educational or community organizations. Coursework may cover family dynamics, developmental stages, educational systems, youth behavior patterns, and child welfare policies.
