Growing research shows that our daily habits significantly influence our health, quality of life, lifespan, and healthcare expenses. Recognizing prevention as crucial for both personal wellness and controlling medical costs has sparked greater focus on health education and promotion across diverse settings including clinics, gyms, organizations, and educational institutions. Health science professionals receive specialized training to guide individuals toward enhanced wellbeing through healthy lifestyle choices. The School of Health Sciences provides undergraduate programs designed to develop experts who can: 1) serve as fitness and exercise professionals in preventive and recovery programs, 2) work as health educators and wellness advocates in public environments, 3) specialize in substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment education, and 4) manage operations in various healthcare facilities. Graduate programs include: Health Service Administration (MSA concentration), Exercise Physiology (MS), Public Health (MPH), Health Administration (MHA), and Health Administration (DHA). Central Michigan University's exercise science-health fitness program focuses on developing professionals who can effectively train others, blending nutritional knowledge and health sciences to prepare students for careers as fitness experts, personal trainers, or athletic performance coaches.
