Recognizing prevention as crucial for maintaining health and controlling medical costs has spurred interest in health education and wellness initiatives across diverse healthcare environments, including medical facilities, gyms, organizations, and educational institutions. Health science professionals receive specialized training to guide people toward enhanced quality of life through healthy habits. The School of Health Sciences provides undergraduate programs designed to prepare students for careers as: 1) fitness and rehabilitation experts in preventive care programs, 2) community health educators and wellness advocates, 3) specialists in substance abuse prevention and treatment education, and 4) healthcare administrators. Graduate programs include Health Service Administration (MSA), Exercise Physiology (MS), Public Health (MPH), Health Administration (MHA), and Doctor of Health Administration (DHA). Central Michigan University's exercise science kinesiology program provides excellent preparation for graduate studies in occupational therapy, physician assistant programs, physical therapy, or chiropractic medicine, blending coursework in biology, exercise science, and chemistry.
