As an advertising student, you'll engage in courses that combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Whether it's television spots, outdoor signage, or online promotions, advertising plays a vital role in modern marketing. You'll acquire expertise for roles in ad agencies, corporate marketing teams, public relations companies, and beyond.

Our advertising curriculum stands among just two Michigan programs accredited by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Instruction comes from distinguished faculty with real-world experience at prominent agencies in Chicago, Detroit, and Grand Rapids.

The program offers three specialization tracks: creative development, account supervision, or media procurement. Based on your focus, you'll master crafting persuasive content, handling client accounts, or optimizing campaign placements.

Practical opportunities abound, including attendance at national events like the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers Conference (featuring competitions in print ads, classified sections, mobile applications, etc.). On-campus employment at CM Life's top-ranked advertising division provides paid experience. Throughout the program, you'll tackle actual advertising projects for organizations such as Huntington Learning Centers, Amazon's Brilliance Audio, the Great Lakes Loons, and Bissell Home Care.
