Case Western Reserve University's Master of Science in Biology program provides a rigorous yet adaptable curriculum within a nurturing, team-oriented setting. You'll expand your biological knowledge through challenging coursework, laboratory and field research, internships, and specialized training, equipping you for diverse professional opportunities. Alumni have successfully entered prestigious PhD programs and secured research positions across academic institutions, industries, and healthcare organizations. The Biology Department provides two MS degree options: a thesis-based Plan A and a non-thesis Plan B. Both require completing at least 30 semester hours of 300-level or higher courses, with 18 hours of formal coursework for the thesis track and 24 hours for the non-thesis option. Remaining credits can be fulfilled through research courses (BIOL 601 Research and BIOL 651 Thesis M.S.). The Entrepreneurial Biotechnology (EB) track offers a two-year professional MS degree following Plan A requirements.
