The Systems and Control Engineering major within the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program equips students with fundamental concepts, analytical tools, and engineering techniques essential for analyzing and designing complex systems, both technological and non-technological. The curriculum addresses issues in modeling, simulation, decision-making, control, and optimization. Examples of systems problems explored include modeling and analyzing intricate biological systems, implementing computer control for industrial facilities, creating global models to assess environmental policies, and optimizing planning and management in large-scale systems. In every instance, the interconnections and interactions among system components are modeled, enabling the determination of optimal strategies to coordinate and regulate individual elements to fulfill the system's overarching objectives.
