The School of Education provides a Certificate of Advanced Study in Leadership in Middle Level Education, which complements its Master of Arts in Education offerings.
This certificate program aims to equip working education professionals (including teachers, administrators, and counselors) with essential leadership competencies for middle school settings. Graduates will demonstrate specialized knowledge in educating young adolescents, primarily those in sixth through eighth grades.
Designed for certified teachers currently working in or pursuing middle school positions, the program accommodates both CSUSM Middle Level Teacher Education alumni and those without formal middle school training. The curriculum enhances participants' existing classroom expertise through diverse professional experiences.
Participants achieving a B grade or higher across all four Middle Level Education courses qualify for the certificate. A teaching credential serves as the sole prerequisite for enrollment in these certificate courses.
