The Visual Studies track within the BA in Art degree provides a vibrant blend of theory and hands-on experience, equipping students to participate in public art initiatives and train as K-12 art educators.
This modern, interdisciplinary curriculum enables students to explore the relationships between art, teaching methods, community involvement, and social equity. It readies graduates for roles in art instruction, arts management, community-based art programs, and socially-conscious artistic endeavors. The program also lays the foundation for advanced studies in Art Education, Fine Arts, Social Practice, Art Therapy, and Arts Administration.
Major coursework focuses on interactive learning, intellectual exploration, teamwork, and artistic creation. Students acquire practical experience through local internships, including placements with Community-based Art initiatives and the Prison Arts Collective.
