The self-designed music program enables you to select courses beyond the required 42-unit core curriculum. Working with your Program Advisor, you'll create a specialized concentration area. This focus area will account for 16 units of study, while the final 4 units are dedicated to your culminating capstone project (detailed below). With advisor approval, up to 3 of these 16 units may be taken outside the Music Department if needed for your concentration. Your focus could revolve around existing departmental offerings without formal subplans (such as jazz or musical theater), or it might combine elements from various departmental programs. These specialized tracks can emphasize creative work, scholarly research, or a combination of both approaches.
