The program aims to enhance students' comprehension of contemporary Africa. As a vital member of the global community, Africa deserves dedicated and continuous examination. This initiative offers a unified, focused approach to cultivate students' awareness and respect for Africa's diverse cultures, landscapes, governance systems, creative expressions, practices, linguistic heritage, customs, natural assets, political dynamics, and community frameworks. The curriculum is carefully crafted to benefit students in both their careers and scholarly pursuits. Participants can choose from various pathways: specializing in global affairs, exploring specific facets of African culture like arts, historical developments, or social systems, or pursuing broad academic enrichment. Through CSU International Programs, Sacramento State students gain chances to pursue education and residency in African nations. This serves as an excellent complement to on-campus African Studies. We highly recommend students complete at least one year of study in an African language besides English. Individual course planning is conducted collaboratively between students and African Studies faculty advisors, along with the Pan African Studies Director.
