The International Relations program enhances a liberal arts education by focusing on both theoretical and practical dimensions of governance and politics, particularly in the global arena. This major is designed to give students foundational knowledge in political science, with special attention to Comparative Politics and International Politics, while also allowing them to explore supplementary courses in disciplines that examine political systems and cultures beyond the U.S. and within the international framework.
The Political Science program similarly enriches a liberal arts education by delving into government and political theories and practices. The department provides Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, International Relations, and Political Science-Journalism, along with a Political Science minor. These programs equip students with core political science knowledge while offering flexibility in course selection. The Political Science Department also contributes essential courses to interdisciplinary fields including California Studies, Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, and Women's and Gender Studies.
