The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program caters to students aiming for careers in applied mathematics or planning advanced studies in this field.
Those enrolled in either the B.A. or B.S. program can pair Mathematics with a second major. With advisor approval, 6 upper-division elective units may be fulfilled through courses from the secondary major, while remaining electives must be mathematics courses. In exceptional cases, the physics requirement in the core curriculum might be substituted with relevant courses from the second major, subject to approval from both an advisor and the department chair.
Our Mathematics Department commits to excellence in both education and research. We strive to create a dynamic environment where undergraduate and graduate students can explore and conduct research across mathematical disciplines. The program equips graduates for diverse professional opportunities in academia, insurance, engineering, climate science, healthcare, law, and business. Our alumni emerge prepared to take on leadership positions in our fast-changing, information-driven global community.
