The Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Music Therapy specialization equips students for professional roles in music-based therapeutic practices (admission requires an audition). Final requirement: clinical internship. Graduates meet the qualifications to sit for the national certification exam to earn Board-Certified Music Therapist credentials.
This evidence-based Music Therapy curriculum blends theoretical instruction with hands-on learning to cultivate students' creative, analytical, and intuitive abilities. Through extensive case studies - both simulated and actual - students refine their competencies before undertaking the culminating internship experience. Before beginning their internship, candidates must show substantial advancement toward meeting the professional standards established by the American Music Therapy Association.
