The Broadcast program equips students with skills equivalent to professional entry-level roles in news and digital media. Participants learn to write, edit, report, produce, and anchor for campus news outlets serving the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas. These platforms include television and digital news programs like Matador News, On Point (a multimedia public affairs show), and Valley View News, along with radio news and features broadcast on KCSN News via LatinAlt HD3.
The Journalism Department is committed to developing educated, ethical graduates ready to launch careers as proficient journalists, PR specialists, and related communication experts. Students master the art of compelling storytelling across multiple formats, becoming skilled writers and communicators who produce fact-based content for diverse audiences while upholding creativity, innovation, critical thinking, ethics, and democratic principles.
