The English undergraduate program offers five specialization tracks: Literature, Creative Writing, Subject Matter, FYI and JYI, and Honors. This structure allows students to focus their studies within specific areas of English. When declaring their major, students must select one of these concentrations. For guidance on choosing a track or exploring career paths with an English bachelor's degree, students should consult with department advisors.
The Subject Matter Program for the Single Subject Credential option specifically trains future middle and high school English teachers. This pathway fulfills the subject matter qualifications set by California's Commission on Teacher Credentialing for obtaining an English Single Subject Teaching Credential.
