The Department of Child and Adolescent Development provides an interdisciplinary undergraduate program examining human growth from infancy to young adulthood. This program awards a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development, with two specialization choices: Applied Developmental Science or Early Childhood Development. The Applied Developmental Science track focuses on evaluating research to enhance developmental outcomes from prenatal stages through early adulthood. Participants examine theoretical frameworks and developmental processes across various contexts, including family structures, biological factors, cultural influences, and societal systems. Alternatively, the Early Childhood Development specialization builds expertise for working with children from birth to age seven, incorporating both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills. This pathway also fulfills the educational prerequisites for obtaining California's Child Development Permit, essential for preschool educators and childcare administrators.
