The Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry program caters to students seeking: (1) a solid chemistry foundation for healthcare professions (consult an advisor about supplementary required courses), (2) opportunities in industrial sectors such as textile chemistry, technical sales, government labs, patent law, or library sciences, or (3) qualification for a single-subject teaching credential in science or chemistry. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry delivers challenging undergraduate and master's programs that equip graduates for achievements in medical, corporate, and scholarly pursuits. Students can pursue ACS-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Additionally, students from other disciplines may complement their major with a Chemistry minor. The department provides research-intensive Master of Science programs in both Chemistry and Biochemistry. Many undergraduates and all graduate students collaborate with faculty on research projects, frequently leading to joint publications and presentations at conferences ranging from local to international levels.
