The Master of Science in Physics program equips students for careers in community college instruction, industrial roles, or advanced doctoral studies in Physics. This program provides two distinct pathways. To accommodate specific professional goals, students may incorporate graduate-level coursework in engineering, other sciences, or mathematics within either option, subject to advisor approval. The Interdisciplinary Studies Master's allows integration of physics courses with biology and chemistry classes, creating a tailored program for interdisciplinary career paths.
Research Option - focuses on investigative work and culminates with a thesis.
Course Option - centers on advanced coursework across various physics disciplines, potentially including directed studies, with programs concluding in a comprehensive exam instead of a thesis.
