A joint doctoral program in Special Education, provided through a collaboration between UCLA and Cal State LA, leverages the distinct strengths of both universities. The program awards a Ph.D. in special education, mandating students to develop comprehensive expertise in the field while allowing specialization in areas such as: early childhood education, learning disorders, emotional and behavioral challenges, cognitive disabilities, significant impairments, physical and health-related conditions, vision impairments, cultural and language diversity, and adult transition programs. The degree necessitates core studies in special education, supplementary coursework in related disciplines, and studies in an external complementary field.
