The Special Education doctoral program emphasizes clinical and applied research focused on expanding knowledge about learning, behavioral, and cognitive challenges, especially in developing interventions for children with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Guided by faculty mentors, students develop their own research programs. The School of Education is home to the SEARCH Autism Center, offering students opportunities to study autism assessment in clinical and educational settings while gaining exposure to EEG technology and educational neuroscience applications.
