Students working toward a Bachelor of Arts in English can choose between two program paths. The General track is designed for those seeking a broad liberal arts education with a focus on literary studies and composition, allowing participants to specialize their studies by selecting electives from specific concentration areas or customizing their curriculum with guidance from an academic advisor. Those aiming to teach English at secondary education levels need to complete the Single Subject Credential (SSC) program and maintain required GPA standards for subject competency certification. English majors should seek academic advising before or during their first term of major-specific classes. All English majors are strongly encouraged to develop proficiency in at least one foreign language.
