The Department of Chicana(o) and Latina(o) Studies provides an in-depth examination of the country's largest ethnic communities. This interdisciplinary program explores diverse areas including literature, history, social sciences, education, political systems, media culture, migration patterns, healthcare policies, civic engagement, and equity issues that have shaped both Chicana/o and Latina/o populations and broader American society. Students will gain extensive knowledge across these disciplines while developing specialized theoretical frameworks unique to this academic domain. The department connects various factors affecting Chicana/o and Latina/o populations, their evolving demographic shifts, the historical significance of Southwestern migration patterns, equity movements, and the effects of digital innovation.

Qualification Requirements

Your secondary education must be in an academic track, intended for college/university preparation and be deemed similar in preparation to what is required of U.S. high school graduates. Have a minimum 3.00 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) in academic courses of the last 3 years of high school/secondary education. You must graduate from high school/complete your secondary education by the end of the Spring term prior to Fall enrollment. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - 61 ibT or higher, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Band 5.5 or higher.
