The curriculum emphasizes an equal focus on teaching methods and performance excellence. Graduates emerge ready to excel as performers while also serving as skilled jazz educators and mentors in various educational environments. The program hones exceptional jazz performance abilities, advanced improvisation techniques, and deep knowledge of jazz history. Students engage with graduate-level theory, jazz composition, and arranging courses, with opportunities for specialized independent study under accomplished industry professionals. Jazz Studies graduate students collaborate frequently with the program director to enhance the program's standards and outcomes.
